New Light - Annual Art Exhibition 2022

Each year Council holds an art exhibition to showcase and celebrate the work of artists who live, work or are connected to the City of Whittlesea.

In 2022, over 75 artists from a diversity of backgrounds responded to the theme New Light.
Mediums used range from oil and acrylic paintings to digital image, photography, sculpture, glasswork, mosaic art and more.

New Light invited artists to ‘view things differently, perhaps from a new angle or perspective, perhaps armed with illuminating knowledge or lessons learned in challenging times. Spaces transform at twilight, shadows dissolve as the sun sets and landmarks disappear so a familiar landscape may become unrecognisable under moonlight. For some artists, changed circumstances may have shed new light internally, for others, it may have  illuminated their external world, showing them aspects they’ve not yet seen, or a future yet to be imagined.
