ARTIST TALK: John Doggett-Williams - UNPAUSED exhibition

International freelance video journalist/documentary maker John Doggart-Williams will be giving an artist talk in early September. He will be discussing the short documentary "The Edge of Development" that he created with a grant from the Whittlesea Creative Community Fund and his practice, influences, and life as a freelance artist.

His television credits include feature and documentary programs for ABC (Australia), Reuters, ESPN, BSkyB and many others.  He wrote, directed and edited, ‘The Big Picture – The films of Charles Chauvel', which was screened at the Cinema Anitpodes Festival in Cannes and ‘Pure Sound – The Gyuto Monks of Tibet’, narrated by Emmy award winner Toni Collette, which is a behind the scenes look into the esoteric rituals of the Gyuto Monastery in Dharamsala (Northern Indian).


He remains the Australian based stringer for Times Now TV (India) and regularly covers both the Venice Biennale and the Cannes Film Festival for ABC and SBS television. He has written news and feature stories for The Age, Sydney Morning Herald and contributed radio feature stories to Radio National and the BBC’s longest running feature program,’Outlook.

John’s short documentaries, Edge of Development, and an artist profile on Rosie Weiss, are both currently showing in the UNPAUSED exhibition in the Great Hall at the Civic Centre until Wednesday 7 September
