The Schools Art Program

Every year, the City of Whittlesea runs a Schools Art Program that engages with local schools and community groups by providing prompts, packages and inspiration for creative activities that can become part of a larger, collaborative artwork.

In 2023, that artwork was The River, which was installed in the PRACC foyer for the 2023 City of Whittlesea Community Festival.

This year's provocations followed the theme of "The World Around Us" and encouraged young people to go outside, take a moment and observe, closely, what they see in their local landscape.

The young people's artworks were then adapted into an animated, digital projection installation, which was to be debuted at Walking Thomastown 2023.

Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, the event was postponed. Stay tuned for an official announcement for the new event date.
